Student/Parent Commitment
Before beginning piano lessons, each student and his/her parent must sign the following commitment.

Payment:

  • Lessons are weekly. The cost of each lesson is $20 payable on a monthly basis ($80/4 weeks or $100/5 weeks).
  • Each month’s payment is due the last week of the preceding month. Payment for music books/supplies is due the week following delivery. Invoices will be given the week before payments are due for convenient reminders.
  • Payment cannot be refunded for missed lessons. If a lesson must be missed for any reason (including illness), please notify the teacher as soon as possible. If the teacher must cancel for any reason, a make-up lesson will be scheduled at a convenient time for both teacher and student.
  • All checks should be made payable to “Heather Greene.”

Lessons:

  • Each piano lesson is 30 minutes in length.
  • Lessons are conducted the same scheduled time each week every week that school is in session.
  • Schedule conflicts should be worked out as soon as the parent is aware to avoid missing a lesson. If you must cancel a lesson, advance notice is greatly appreciated.
  • Lessons will be spent listening to the student play any pieces assigned the previous week, learning new techniques, and going over assignments for the following lesson.
  • Each student must bring all of his/her music materials (piano books, assignment book, etc.) to each lesson. If a student forgets his/her books, the lesson may be canceled.

Practice:

  • Parents should encourage a routine daily time for practice. All students are expected to practice five days per week. Students 3rd grade and below should practice 15-20 minutes each day. Students 4th grade and above should practice 30-45 minutes each day.
  • Most young beginning students require that the parent “practice” with them by sitting on the bench and going through the required assignments with their child. If your child is too young or otherwise unable to focus on the assignments for the allotted time, you are expected to work with your child each day. If a child has not sufficiently practiced, lessons might turn into simple “coaching” sessions where practice skills are taught but no new material can be learned.
  • Please keep fingernails trimmed and clean and come to each lesson with clean hands.
